Participate in a Service Activity organized by GCA teacher

In April 11^th, I went to school make food with some students and teachers. Our group should make applesauce, it’s not very difficult.

At the beginning, our leader led us buy some apples and a melon. Then we wash all the fruits and knives. The knives were not sharp, so we couldn’t peel the apple. We cut them to small pieces, and put them into pot. We open stove and added some water, but nothing happened. This is a big problem, because this pot is made of aluminum. We must find an iron port, but how can we find it?

Finally, one person found it in the canteens. It is a huge iron pot, but we can start now. When the water starts boiling, we also added some cinnamon. It isn’t looks nice, but it smelled very well. When the apple became a little bit transparent, we use spoons to crush them. We think it shouldn’t called “applesauce”, it should called “apple porridge”. Although we met many problems, we have completed it. Then we also need clean up the whole class, I felt very tired but it’s also interesting.

I think this event have great significance; we learned how to make western foods. When we go abroad, we might live alone. We should learn how to take care of ourselves; we need learn how to make these foods. If we couldn’t do it, it will become a big problem for us. So this time’s experience is very necessary, I will not forget.
